This qualification reflects the role of individuals who have a defined and limited range of hospitality operational skills and basic industry knowledge. They are involved in mainly routine and repetitive tasks and work under direct supervision.
This qualification provides a pathway to work in various hospitality settings, such as restaurants, hotels, motels, catering operations, clubs, pubs, cafs, and coffee shops.
Possible job titles include:
- bar attendant
- cafe attendant
- catering assistant
- food and beverage attendant
- front office assistant
- room attendant.
No occupational licensing, certification or specific legislative requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.

Location: Maitland Campus, Building K
This is a full time course. You will need to attend approximately 24 hours of class, over 3 days a week, for 9 weeks. You may also be required to complete approximately 8.9 hours of additional study each week outside of class hours, including work experience.

Students are required to wear long black buisness pants and closed in black leather shoes.

This course is currently scheduled on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9.00am to 4.30pm. This timetable may change and will be confirmed by your teacher.
SMART AND SKILLED FEES
This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.
Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process. Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.
