Course Details

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who have a defined and limited range of hospitality operational skills and basic industry knowledge. They are involved in mainly routine and repetitive tasks and work under direct supervision.

This qualification provides a pathway to work in various hospitality settings, such as restaurants, hotels, motels, catering operations, clubs, pubs, cafs, and coffee shops.

Possible job titles include:

  • bar attendant
  • cafe attendant
  • catering assistant
  • food and beverage attendant
  • front office assistant
  • porter
  • room attendant.

No occupational licensing, certification or specific legislative requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.

STUDY COMMITMENT

This is a Full Time course. You will need to attend approximately 16.4 hours of class over 4 days a week for 18 weeks.

You may also be required to complete approximately 3.1 hours of additional study each week outside of class hours may include private study, assignment preparation, work experience and research.

This course offering is for a pre-employment cohort of students seeking employment to work in various hospitality settings, such as restaurants, hotels, motels, catering operations, clubs, pubs, caf?s, and coffee shops.

This course is suitable for under 18 as it does not contain the service of alcohol however, Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) licencing is included in the course as an elective ($85.00 fee).

This course is currently scheduled on Monday (9 am - 11.30 am), Tuesday and Friday (9 am to 3.30 pm) and Thursday (8.30 am ro 2 pm). This timetable may change and will be confirmed by your teacher.

SMART AND SKILLED FEES

This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.

Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process. Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.
