ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

With 130 locations across the state, TAFE NSW tailors qualifications to meet the needs of the local community and specific student groups (like apprentices, fast-tracked and online students). To make sure this course is the right fit for you, we will need you to demonstrate that you can meet the additional requirements below.

To successfully complete this course, you will need:

  • A computer (or regular access to a computer)
  • Access to the Internet Communication technology such as phone and email Adobe Reader or similar PDF reader (this can be accessed at no cost for TAFE NSW students)
  • Word processing program such as Microsoft Word, Google Docs etc programs to open and save document files
  • Phone or video recording device for demonstration of skills depending on the unit of competency

Work Placement:

While this is not mandatory for this qualification, this is a highly practical course. We strongly recommend you undertake work experience with a suitable industry employer. You are responsible for arranging your own work experience. Our team can offer support and guidance to assist you.

INFORMATION SESSIONS

STUDY COMMITMENT

The course is a flexible course. You will need to attend approximately 8 hours of class each week, for 36 weeks. As well as the in-class component, you will need to complete approximately 6 hours of other study per week.

You may also be required to complete approximately 3 hours of additional study each week outside of class hours, including optional research tasks to become quick at sourcing information on Guiding.

Students will be given an Individual Training Plan after a conversation with the teacher to see how they would like to complete this qualification. Learning materials and assessments will be provided to the student through Google Classroom. Students that are currently employed in industry will be able to use their current workplace environment to demonstrate practical components. It recommended for those students not working in industry to link with an employer on a paid or unpaid basis to complete practical assessment components of selected units.

SMART AND SKILLED FEES

This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.

Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process. Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.

Students undertaking the elective SITHFAB002 Provide responsible service of alcohol are required to pay an incidental charge of $86 for the RSA Interim Certificate.

Students undertaking these units will be issued with the relevant Liquor and Gaming NSW resource prior to the course commencement. A short pre-course activity will also be provided for students undertaking the RSA SITHFAB002, to be completed prior to the course.
