This qualification provides a pathway to work as a commercial cook in organisations such as restaurants, hotels, clubs, pubs, cafs, and coffee shops.
No occupational licensing, certification or specific legislative requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.
Depending on your previous qualifications and experience your fee may decrease from the maximum shown.
Payment by instalment may also be available. Your fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process.

Costs associated with work experience and field trips such as food, transport and accommodation are at the students own expense.

Students are required to complete 48 food service periods either in the nightcap Restaurant or in the workplace. You are required to wear Chef's long pants, white chef's jacket-white buttons, black apron, chef's cap hat, fully closed non -slip shoes. It is advised that you start to compile a cook's tool kit that will assist you throughout the course . The chef's kit contains commercial grade kitchen tools , a range of chef knives, balloon whisk, zesters, wooden spoon, scrapers, pastry brush.
A message for young people under 17 years of age: If you are under 17 years and wish to enrol you will need to have completed Year 10, or have special permission from school and TAFE to do so.
