This qualification provides a pathway to work as a commercial cook in organisations such as restaurants, hotels, clubs, pubs, cafs, and coffee shops.
No occupational licensing, certification or specific legislative requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.
Depending on your previous qualifications and experience your fee may decrease from the maximum shown.
Payment by instalment may also be available. Your fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process.
This training is subsidised by the NSW Government, and as a result your fee is determined through Training Services NSW formal eligibility criteria. In claiming the concession or exemption, students will be required to supply the required evidence to support the claim in accord with the requirements of Smart and Skilled eligibility.
Further costs in addition to your student fees may be applicable for this qualification. These costs are to provide you with additional resources to support your learning. The following resources can be sourced directly by the student:
- Chefs Uniform (chefs pants, Jacket, Apron, hat and non-slip shoes) - $150.00 approx
- Futura Reference Text approx $300.00
- Leather Safety boots: approx $60.00
- Chefs Took Kit: approx $290.00
NSW Food Authority require a valid certificate to be issued to students that are competent in: 1. Handle food safety in a retail environment (SIRRFSA001); 2. Use hygienic practices for food safety (SITXFSA001); or 3. Participate in safe food handling practices (SITXFSA002). TAFE obtain this certificate on behalf of the student. $30.00
To activate your eligibility you must pay the student fee component PRIOR to commencement of the learning activity.
You may be eligible for the Fee Free Apprenticeship which will be verified at enrolment.
Students must be an apprentice to complete this course. If you are not an apprentice, please contact the teaching staff on 131 601 to discuss your options prior to enrolment, as other training options may be available.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Policy: Students are required to supply and wear PPE. This includes safety boots, cotton drill trousers, long sleeve shirt and safety glasses.
