Course Details

This qualification reflects the role of pastry chefs who have a supervisory or team leading role in the kitchen. They operate independently or with limited guidance from others and use discretion to solve non-routine problems.

This qualification provides a pathway to work in various organisations where patisserie products are prepared and served, including patisseries, restaurants, hotels, catering operations, clubs, pubs, cafs, and coffee shops.

No occupational licensing, certification or specific legislative requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.

"STUDY COMMITMENT

This is a full time blended course. You will need to attend approximately18 hours of class, over 3 days a week, for 36 weeks. As well as the in-class component, you will need to complete approximately 10 hours of other study per week.

You may also be required to complete approximately 4 hours of additional study each week outside of class hours, including private study, assignment preparation, work experience and research.

This course is currently scheduled for 3 days a week. An individual training plan will be provided when you enrol in this course. Your plan will outline the recommended study timetable and detail your units and assessments.

SMART AND SKILLED FEES

This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.

Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process. Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.

You are required to purchase uniform, tools and prescribed text for this course at a total cost of approximately $1200. Uniform and tools are required from the first lesson and all practical classes. Further information is provided with your timetable. Classes will be at Ryde and/or Meadowbank campus.
