Course Details

This qualification reflects the role of highly skilled senior operators who use a broad range of hospitality skills combined with managerial skills and sound knowledge of industry to coordinate hospitality operations. They operate independently, have responsibility for others and make a range of operational business decisions.

This qualification provides a pathway to work in any hospitality industry sector as a departmental or small business manager. The diversity of employers includes restaurants, hotels, motels, catering operations, clubs, pubs, cafs, and coffee shops. This qualification allows for multiskilling and for specialisation in accommodation services, cookery, food and beverage and gaming.

No occupational licensing, certification or specific legislative requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.

To successfully complete this course, you will need: - to successfully complete 13 core units and 15 elective units.

The times listed are indicative hours of attendance in Semester 1 of the course. Some class times do change through the semester as part of the flexible delivery methods used. All classes in Semester 2 will be during the day averaging 6 hrs per day from 9:00am. Classes will be scheduled over 3 days in semester 2.

At this session you will finalise your enrolment and receive information about timetables, uniforms and required learning resources. Original documentation (certificates, transcripts and resumes) to support requests for recognition of previous studies and work experience are to be presented at this session. Specific details about the orientation session will be given to you on the 23rd of Janaury 2020 when you attend the compulsory information session. They will aslo be sent to you by email. Orientation activities will be a various times during your first week of study.

This course is currently scheduled on Monday from 03:00pm to 09:30pm, Tuesday from 12:30pm to 04:30pm, Wednesday from 09:00pm to 04:00pm and Thursday 09:00am to 04:00pm. This timetable may change and will be confirmed by your teacher.

SMART AND SKILLED FEES

This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.

Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process.

PAYMENT OPTIONS AND ASSISTANCE

This course is approved for a Commonwealth VET Student Loan (VSL). If you meet the VSL eligibility and academic suitability requirements, you are able to apply to the Commonwealth for a loan to cover all or part of your course fee. We will ask you whether you would like to apply for a VET Student Loan when you enrol and advise you of the process.
