Course Details

This qualification reflects the role of highly skilled senior operators who use a broad range of hospitality skills combined with managerial skills and sound knowledge of industry to coordinate hospitality operations. They operate independently, have responsibility for others and make a range of operational business decisions.

This qualification provides a pathway to work in any hospitality industry sector as a departmental or small business manager. The diversity of employers includes restaurants, hotels, motels, catering operations, clubs, pubs, cafs, and coffee shops. This qualification allows for multiskilling and for specialisation in accommodation services, cookery, food and beverage and gaming.

No occupational licensing, certification or specific legislative requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.

STUDY COMMITMENT

This is a Full Time face to face course. You will need to attend approximately 16 hours of class, over 5 days a week, for 36 weeks.

You may also be required to complete approximately 19 hours of additional study each week outside of class hours, including private study, research, asssessment preparation (independent study, research, practice and assignments

This course offering is designed for people who:

Wish to enter the hospitality industry with a sound knowledge of industry operations and a range of well-developed hospitality sevice, sales or operational skills to work in organistrations such as restaurants, hotels, motels, clubs, pubs, cafes and coffee shops. This qualification specialises in food and beverage services for a career as a food and beverage attendant, espresso coffee machine operator, function attendant, restaurant host, and bar attendant.

SMART AND SKILLED FEES

This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.

Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process.

PAYMENT OPTIONS AND ASSISTANCE

This course is approved for a Commonwealth VET Student Loan (VSL). If you meet the VSL eligibility and academic suitability requirements, you are able to apply to the Commonwealth for a loan to cover all or part of your course fee. We will ask you whether you would like to apply for a VET Student Loan when you enrol and advise you of the process.
