Course Details
This qualification reflects the role of highly skilled senior operators who use a broad range of hospitality skills combined with managerial skills and sound knowledge of industry to coordinate hospitality operations. They operate independently, have responsibility for others and make a range of operational business decisions.
This qualification provides a pathway to work in any hospitality industry sector as a departmental or small business manager. The diversity of employers includes restaurants, hotels, motels, catering operations, clubs, pubs, cafs, and coffee shops. This qualification allows for multiskilling and for specialisation in accommodation services, cookery, food and beverage and gaming.
No occupational licensing, certification or specific legislative requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.

preference is that you are 18 years of age when you begin this course in February 2020 to legally serve alcohol in our training restaurant. However, it will be essential that you will have turned 18 years of age before 28 October 2020 to be first trained in food & beverage and then serve alcohol to customers in The Apprentice restaurant during the last term of 2020.

36 shifts (approx 4 hours each) at a hospitality related enterprise. Your shifts are recorded in a supplied workplace diary and submitted prior to the completion of your course.

STUDY COMMITMENT
This is a full-time face to face course. You will need to attend approximately 20 hours of class, over 3-4 days a week, for 36 weeks.
You may also be required to complete approximately 13 hours of additional study each week outside of class hours, including unstructured Learning may include private study, assignment preparation, work experience and research. (independent study, research, practice and assignments).
An indication of your weekly timetable for the first semester: Semester 1 (03/02/2020 to19/06/2020):
The actual day and time of attendance depends on the specific F&B group that you will be placed into. OR If placed in Front Office for the first semester commencing from week 2:
- Friday?s ? week 2 (14/02/2020) to 18 - Front Office 9:00am until 3:30pm.
For ALL students - Core management units commencing from week 4: - Monday?s - Week 4 (24/02/2020) to 16 + 18: 09:30am until 7:00pm
- Tuesday?s - Week 7 (17/03/2020) to 16 + 18: 10:00am until 4:00pm
- Tuesday to Thursday Week 17 exam timetable

You will need to attend approximately 20 hours of class a week over 3 to 4 days over two semesters (36 weeks). If you wish to see the timetables prior to the start of your course please ask a Hospitality teacher.
SMART AND SKILLED FEES
This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.
Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process.

PAYMENT OPTIONS AND ASSISTANCE
This course is approved for a Commonwealth VET Student Loan (VSL). If you meet the VSL eligibility and academic suitability requirements, you are able to apply to the Commonwealth for a loan to cover all or part of your course fee. We will ask you whether you would like to apply for a VET Student Loan when you enrol and advise you of the process.
