Course Details
A set of skills to equip individuals in hygienic practices and handling food safely during the storage, preparation, display, service, and disposal of food.
Pathways Information
Achievement of this unit provides credit towards qualifications in tourism, travel, hospitality, events, holiday parks and resorts in the SIT Tourism, Travel and Hospitality Training Package.
Licensing/Regulatory Information
Certification requirements apply at a state and territory level to individuals involved in food handling or supervision. Certification in some States relies on the achievement of SITXFSA001 Use hygienic practices for food safety and SITXFSA002 Participate in safe food handling practices.
Food safety legislative and knowledge requirements may differ across borders. Those developing training to support the SITXFSA001 and SITXFSA002 units must consult the relevant state or territory food safety authority to determine any accreditation arrangements for courses, trainers and assessors.

STUDY COMMITMENT
This is a part time day, face to face course. You will need to attend approximately 3 hours of class, over 1 day to complete this course. As well as the in-class component, you will need to complete approximately 9 hours of other study.
You may also be required to complete approximately 2 hours of additional study each week outside of class hours, including Prior knowledge of food safety and research.
This course is designed with three X 3hr MS Teams Workshops, Engagement with a TAFE Moodle and completion of a practical Assessmnt tasks in the workplace (to be recorded and uploaded to Moodle).

To keep you safe while studying, some of our face to face classes may be replaced with online or connected learning. We have also modified our face to face classes to meet physical distancing requirements and increased cleaning on campus. As restrictions ease, the way you attend your class may change again. If work placement and the demonstration of practical skills are requirements of your course, due to the impacts of COVID-19 there may be a delay or modification in being able to undertake these aspects of your course in the planned timeframe. Be assured, we'll keep you informed every step of the way.
This course is currently scheduled at TAFE NSW Deniliquin, Connected Learning Centre on Thursday from 9.30am to 12.30pm. This timetable may change and will be confirmed by your teacher.
This training is not subsidised by Government funding. There are no fee exemptions, concessions or subsidies available for this course.
Payment of course fee must be made PRIOR to commencement of learning activity.
