This qualification reflects the roles of individuals delivering training and assessment services in the vocational education and training (VET) sector.
This qualification (or the skill sets derived from units of competency within it) is also suitable preparation for those engaged in the delivery of training and assessment of competence in a workplace context, as a component of a structured VET program.
The volume of learning of a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is typically six months to two years.
Licensing/Regulatory Information Achievement of this qualification by trainers is a requirement of the Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) 2015.
This part-time course consists of two evenings, 8 hours per week plus 2 hours per week facilitated online sessions using Moodle/Adobe connect. You can expect to do an additional 8 hours per week of self-directed learning activities, which may include researching information relating to a unit, reviewing notes/learner guides and recordings, planning and organising assessments ready for submission within your workplace environment. Students can contact the trainer to organise additional tutorial support, this can be one to one, small group or in the learning/study centre.
To successfully complete this course you should: Have technology skills to access and navigate the internet and be able to use word processing software Have access to a laptop to bring to class each week Be a self-directed learner in the context of a supportive online learning environment Possess sound language and literacy skills
The expectation is that by enrolling in this qualification you commit to the time frame in which the qualification is being delivered. The proposed study schedule will be discussed and an individual learning plan will be established.

Attendance is at TAFE NSW Denilquin, Connected Learning Centre, Cnr Poictiers and Hardinge Streets on Tuesday and Thursday 5.00pm to 9.00pm by Connected Classroom for 36 weeks.
SMART AND SKILLED FEES
This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.
Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process. Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.

Who is eligible? Unqualified VET practitioners (trainers and assessors) seeking to obtain this qualification can enrol in the full qualification under Smart and Skilled Targeted Priorities Full Qualification Program and be granted recognition of prior learning (RPL). This includes individuals who:
- Only hold the Assessor Skill Set but not the full qualification and are seeking to also become a qualified trainer
- Have a trainer and assessor qualification that does not meet the minimum qualification requirement under the standards that apply from 31 May 2019, e.g. TAA40104.
This training is subsidised by the NSW Government, and as a result your fee is determined through Training Services NSW formal eligibility criteria. This criteria will determine your exact fee. Students who meet additional specified criteria, may be eligible for a concession fee or a fee exemption. In claiming the concession or exemption students will be required to supply the required evidence to support the claim in accord with the requirements of Smart and Skilled eligibility.
Payment Plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.
To activate your eligibility you must pay the student fee component PRIOR to commencement of the learning activity.
