Course Details

This qualification reflects the roles of individuals delivering training and assessment services in the vocational education and training (VET) sector.

This qualification (or the skill sets derived from units of competency within it) is also suitable preparation for those engaged in the delivery of training and assessment of competence in a workplace context, as a component of a structured VET program.

The volume of learning of a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is typically six months to two years.

Licensing/Regulatory Information
Achievement of this qualification by trainers is a requirement of the Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) 2015.

Who is eligible?
Unqualified VET practitioners (trainers and assessors) seeking to obtain this qualification can enrol in the full qualification under Smart and Skilled Targeted Priorities Full Qualification Program and be granted recognition of prior learning (RPL). This includes individuals who:
- Only hold the Assessor Skill Set but not the full qualification and are seeking to also become a qualified trainer
- Have a trainer and assessor qualification that does not meet the minimum qualification requirement under the standards that apply from 31 May 2019, e.g. TAA40104.

Those entering this program must be able to demonstrate vocational competency in their proposed teaching and assessing area. Vocational competency is defined as broad industry knowledge and experience, and may include, but is not limited to, holding a relevant unit of competency or qualification.
In addition to the evening classes students will be required to attend 5 mandatory full day workshops held on Friday's from 9.00-4.00 pm. Workshop dates: 30/8/19, 27/09/19, 06/12/19, 14/02/2020, 03/04/2020, and 26/06/2020. Additional 2 hour support sessions each week.
This course will be delivered over 38 weeks. Face to Face Evening classes will be held each Monday from 5.30-9.00 pm with breaks over the TAFE vacation periods.
