TAFE NSW offers the Certificate II in Electronics as either a traineeship or non-traineeship, so you can build the career you want.

Depending on the course you choose and the campus you want to study at you will need to provide evidence that you meet all relevant entry criteria.

Traineeship

To be eligible for this course you must:

  • Be employed in electronics industry as this course is delivered in the workplace
  • Have a signed traineeship contract

Non-traineeship

There are no entry requirements for non-trainees enrolling in this course.

LICENSING REQUIREMENTS

No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this qualification.

BE PREPARED

To be prepared for this course, it is recommended that you have:

  • Effective communications skills
  • The ability to follow instructions
  • Good hand-eye coordination
  • Aptitude for technical work
  • Meet language, literacy and numeracy requirements (minimum Australian Core Skills Framework Level 3 for learning, reading, writing, numeracy and oral communication)

  • Commit to attend all scheduled training/assessment sessions, complete recommended study/moodle in your own time and have the reasonable level of literacy and numeracy.

STUDY COMMITMENT

This is a Part Time Day Face to Face course. You will need to attend approximately 7 hours of class, over 1 day a week, for 36 weeks. As well as the in-class component, you will need to complete approximately 1 hours of other study per week.

You may also be required to complete approximately 12.5 hours of additional study each week outside of class hours, including face to face, online lectures, assignment and quizzes.

This course is currently scheduled for 1 day a week. An individual training plan will be provided when you enrol in this course. Your plan will outline the recommended study timetable and detail your units and assessments.

SMART AND SKILLED FEES

This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.

Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process. Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.
