Work placement

  • There is no work placement requirement for this qualification. As an apprentice, you will gain experience on-the-job with your employer.

Materials needed

To complete this course, the following materials are required:

  • You will need to provide the following resources which is retained on completion of study:

    • A scientific calculator, pens, pencils, drawing instruments, A4 ruled notebooks, safety glasses, hearing protection, work boots, appropriate clothing,
    • AS/NZS 3000:2018, AS/NZS 3008.1.1:2017. Recommended text references: Electrical Trade Principles by Jeffrey Hampson and Steven Hanssen and Electrotechnology Practice by Jeffrey Hampson and Steven Hanssen. Approximate cost of these are $200.00

  • To be enrolled in this course, you need to be able to provide evidence that you are:

    • an apprentice (you will work in industry and study at the same time)
    • employed full time
    • signed up with an Apprentice Network Provider and have a Training Plan Proposal
    • seeking to gain skills and knowledge to become a qualified Electrotechnology Electrician after successful completion

Units Units taught in this course

Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 1110 weighting points, including 990 core and 120 speciality units.

Core units are central to the job outcomes of a particular industry or occupation. These are the units industry has agreed are essential to be capable and qualified at a particular study level.
