Work placement

  • To be enrolled in this course offering, you need to be able to meet the following work placement requirements:

    • Four (4) years full-time, paid and on the job training at a minimum of 4 days per week
    • A detailed work diary
    • Skills tracker report, with all cards completed and signed by your direct supervisor
    • Photos and employer letters/references detailing your work experience.

  • To be enrolled in this course, you need to be able to provide evidence that you are:

    • an apprentice (you will work in industry and study at the same time)
    • employed full time
    • signed up with an Apprentice Network Provider and have a Training Plan Proposal
    • seeking to gain skills and knowledge to become a qualified electrician after successful completion
  • To successfully complete this course, you will need to:

    • Have reading, writing and numeracy skills at a level equal to or greater than 3. (Refer to volume 2 part 3 "Numeracy and Literacy" of the training package (UEE)
    • Access to a suitable workplace on a permanent full time paid basis
    • Tools, materials and workbooks as prescribed by the teaching section at the time of delivery

Units Units taught in this course

Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 1110 weighting points, including 990 core and 120 speciality units.

Core units are central to the job outcomes of a particular industry or occupation. These are the units industry has agreed are essential to be capable and qualified at a particular study level.

Course delivery Combination study

Learn through a combination of classroom based, online and/or workplace activity. For example, you may participate in scheduled classroom activity, have an element of self-directed learning with online content, and/or receive supervised training while on the job, doing work experience, or on placement.

Classroom activity will be scheduled, but online learning can provide more flexibility. Teacher support will be provided for all study. Access to a computer with an internet connection is required.
