NSW apprentices are eligible to a government subsidy for their apprenticeship qualification.

The 2018 Smart and Skilled prices for this qualification are:

Apprenticeship Fee: $2,000.00
Concession Fee: $240.00

Some students may be eligible for a fee exemption or a Fee-Free Scholarship.

Your enrolment is not complete and you are not entitled to attend class and/or participate in training until you have paid either the relevant student fee, a concession fee or have been exempted from the student fee. You may have the option to pay your student fee in more than one instalment. The first payment is due when you enrol. More information on your rights and responsibilities can be found here

Course Description

This qualification reflects the role of barbers who use a range of well-developed sales, consultation and technical skills and knowledge to provide a broad range of barbering services to clients. They use discretion and judgement to provide client services and take responsibility for the outcomes of their own work.

This qualification provides a pathway to work as a barber in any industry environment, usually a barber shop or salon.

No occupational licensing, certification or specific legislative requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.

A valid Unique Student Identifier (USI) is required. Create your USI.

The following evidence is required to support your application for a training subsidy and must be provided at the time of enrolment:
- Australian green Medicare Card
- An Australian or New Zealand Birth Certificate
- Australian or New Zealand Passport
- Naturalisation Certificate or
- For Permanent Residents or Humanitarian Visa holders, a Certificate of Evidence of Resident Status (CERS) or a Humanitarian Visa is required.

For a concession or exemption evidence required is either a:
- valid Centrelink Customer Reference Number (CRN) or DVA number with the date of grant or
- letter from a medical practitioner, appropriate government agency or specialised allied health professional indicating a clear additional need as a result of a disability.

Jobseekers are required to provide full details of:
- jobactive provider and
- personal jobseeker identification (JSID) number.

Non NSW residents need to provide confirmation of employment in NSW.
