TAFE NSW has the largest Indigenous enrolment of any training provider in Australia. We encourage and assist Indigenous students to improve their educational outcomes and employment opportunities.
Most TAFE NSW campuses have an Aboriginal Coordinator and many also have Aboriginal Support Officers. These specialist staff can provide:
TAFE NSW offers courses that are culturally and educationally appropriate for Indigenous students.
Aboriginal teachers will present some of the course where possible, especially the cultural content. If there isn't an Aboriginal teacher available, Aboriginal Team Teachers or guest lecturers will teach the cultural material.
You may be eligible for a course fee exemption or concession. ABSTUDY financial assistance may also be available from Centrelink.
