Drought Reach Program

Drought NEI logo

TAFE New England partnered with the state government to launch Drought Reach, a new plan to assist farmers and businesses to prepare for drought. The Drought Reach program is jointly supported by State Training Services, TAFE New England and Rural Skills Australia.

TAFE's Diploma in Agriculture program provides training that addresses the impact of drought, and also recognises the current skills and ability of the agricultural workforce. As part of Drought Reach it will create training for those in the farming sector to learn about:

Resource management
Farm diversification
Financial management and business skills
Paddock workshops
New technologies

The Diploma will incorporate recognition of prior learning, flexible online delivery, and a potential future pathway into the Bachelor of Agrifood Systems at the University of New England.
