Luke Eastman quit studying the Bachelor of Arts at the University of NSW as he wanted a hands-on course.
"I enrolled at TAFE NSW to pursue my interests in drafting and engineering and got an apprenticeship with Aurecon. After graduation, Aurecon employed me to work on the Barangaroo redevelopment project.
"We're currently working with the landscape architects to have an underground art gallery. The technical knowledge I gained at TAFE helped me to better understand the theory behind the design and identify the practicalities relating to the construction process.
"Having a job in the industry helps to contextualise what you are doing and learning."
Luke is planning to continue his studies in construction and management at university, where his TAFE studies will provide him with credits.Back to student stories
