Kate Roberts, Community Services Work
Kate Roberts is a teacher at the Northern Sydney Institute's Meadowbank Campus. As well as being one of the brains behind the Institute's first TEDx event, Kate teaches Community Services Work, training the people who work in the community sector with disadvantaged and marginalised people.
"I am passionate about social justice and promoting discussion on ethical issues which is an important part of teaching Community Services. I've organised a number of Ethical Forums – panel discussions with experts and public figures in the area presenting the different points of view around an issue. In the Community Services teaching program we've presented forums on euthanasia, Indigenous quality of life, and gambling. I find it extremely gratifying witnessing people being challenged to the point that they adjust and readjust their thinking."
