This course is currently scheduled on Tuesday and Wednesday with day classes and Thursday with morning classes. This timetable may change and will be confirmed by your teacher.
Assessments let you show what you've learned and check what you may need to work on.
Knowledge assessments: short answer, extended response, research tasks, multiple choice questions, assignments
Skills assessments: projects, case studies
Practical skills assessments: demonstrations under observation such as role plays
Simulated workplace projects: scenario-based problem solving
Work placement gives you real experience and develops your skills.
You will undertake a mandatory 160 hours of work placement with a suitable industry employer. Depending on your mode of study, TAFE NSW will arrange your work placement for you or support you to find one.

Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Diploma of Alcohol and Other Drugs qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 22 units of competency , including 16 core and 6 speciality units.
Core units are central to the job outcomes of a particular industry or occupation. These are the units industry has agreed are essential to be capable and qualified at a particular study level.
Learn virtually, from anywhere with a strong internet connection. Like learning on campus, you will receive a timetable of when to attend virtually. You'll use video or web conferencing technology to connect to your virtual classroom with your teacher and other students. When attending off campus, you can choose where you want to study. This could include your home, a local library, or any TAFE NSW campus. You can contact TAFE NSW campuses to book a space. Depending on your course you may also complete some of your training online.
