Assessments

Assessments give you the opportunity to demonstrate what you have learnt and to identify the knowledge or skills that may need further development.

  • Knowledge assessments: multiple-choice questions

  • Practical skills assessments: demonstrations under observation such as basic life support, first aid incident response and report and manage illness and injuries

Work placement

Work placement provides you with opportunities to respond to situations and circumstances that cannot be replicated in a learning or simulated environment. Work placement strengthens your training and supports continued learning and assessment in the workplace.

  • To be able to successfully complete this course, you will need:

    • Access to a computer and internet for some research activities and completion of quiz assessments. You will require a reliable internet connection.
    • You need to be reasonably, physically fit to undertake the First Aid practical assessment which requires students to be physically able to perform CPR on the floor for a period of six (6) minutes, in multiple scenarios. You will also need to be capable of moving around on the floor to perform scenario assessments in small teams, including bandaging and operating an AED (Automatic Emergency Defibrillator).

    It is recommended that you complete this course within 1 week including the practical session. You have a 6 month period from your enrolment to book in for your practical session. It is a requirement that the quizzes are completed prior to your attendance at the practical session.

Course Delivery Combination Study

Learn through a combination of classroom based, online and/or workplace activity. For example, you may participate in scheduled classroom activity, have an element of self-directed learning with online content, and/or receive supervised training while on the job, doing work experience, or on placement.

Classroom activity will be scheduled, but online learning can provide more flexibility. Teacher support will be provided for all study. Access to a computer with an internet connection is required.
