    Assessments

    Assessments let you show what you've learned and check what you may need to work on.

    • Knowledge assessments: short answer, extended response, research tasks and multiple choice questions.

    • Skills assessments: projects and case studies.

    • Practical skills assessments: demonstrations under observation.

    • Simulated workplace projects: scenario-based problem solving.

    Work placement

    Work placement gives you real experience and develops your skills.

    • During your course you will undertake a mandatory 35 hours of work placement with a suitable industry employer.

    • Depending on your mode of study, TAFE NSW will either arrange your work placement for you or support you to find one.

      • Students are required to pay $50 for work placement T-shirt.

      • Work placement will only be available for students with all required vaccinations as per NSW health requirements, and all course work complete to a satisfactory standard.

    Units taught in this course

    Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate III in Pathology Collection qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 14 units of competency, including 9 core and 5 speciality units.

    Course delivery

    Combination study

    Learn through a combination of on-campus classroom, virtual classroom, online, and/or workplace activity. For example, you may participate in scheduled face-to-face or virtual classroom activity, have an element of self-directed learning with online content, and/or receive supervised training while on the job, doing work experience, or on placement.

    Classroom activity will be scheduled, but online learning can provide more flexibility. Teacher support will be provided for all study. Access to a computer with an internet connection is required.
