As a permanent visa holder in Australia, you can apply to study at one of our campuses. You can enrol into fee-for-service training, which means you will pay the full cost of the course or qualification.
As a permanent visa holder, you may also be eligible to enrol in subsidised training in New South Wales (NSW) under the Smart and Skilled program.
Under the Smart and Skilled program, your fee will be the student apprenticeship or traineeship fee.To check your eligibility for the Smart and Skilled program, visit our Student Services Fact Sheet for visa holders.
If you're in Australia on a temporary visa that allows you to study, you can apply to study with us.
To apply, follow these steps:
You’ll only be enrolled if a place is available and you meet the entry requirements for your chosen course. Entry requirements are listed in the course information.
As a temporary visa holder, you’ll need to pay the full fee that applies to your course.
Temporary visa holders may be entitled to NSW government-subsidised training. Your student fee may be waived for Certificate I to Certificate IV level courses for some temporary visa holders.
This fee waiver applies if you or your eligible partner hold any of these visas:
It also applies if you have submitted an application for any of following visas:
Please note, you’ll need to provide your visa documentation or your ImmiCard as evidence to prove your eligibility.
If you’re on a temporary visa, your residency status will be verified with the Department of Home Affairs (DoHA). Any false claims about residency status may exclude you from our courses.
If your temporary visa or the conditions of your visa change while you're studying at TAFE NSW, you’ll need to let us know. You can do this by contacting the Temporary Visa Holder Officer at your campus.
You’re responsible for meeting your visa conditions, including maintaining the currency of your visa. See your Rights and Responsibilities as a student of TAFE NSW.
You’ll only be enrolled into a course if your visa is current. It’s your responsibility to provide us with visa documents that are up to date.
If your visa only allows you to study for a set period of time, we can only enrol you into study for that time period.
If your visa has no end date, you can still enrol. You’ll be responsible for complying with your visa regulations as determined by the Department of Home Affairs (DoHA) regulations. This includes departure from Australia if required to do so.
For more information or questions, you can contact the Temporary Visa Holder Officer at your campus.
