    Are you a recent graduate of a Tourism, Travel or Hospitality course at TAFE NSW? You should apply for the prestigious Barrington Raymund Roberts Memorial Award! One deserving recipient will receive $4,000 (AUD) to support their further study, training and work placement in the Tourism, Travel or Hospitality industry.

    You could be like Billy Fox, a former lucky Barrington Raymund Roberts Memorial Award winner. Billy used the award to travel to Singapore and gain valuable industry experience at the renowned Osia Restaurant.

    Barrington Raymund Robert’s passion led to the establishment of the most significant hospitality training centre in the Asia Pacific Region, now known as TAFE NSW Ryde. He was a true trailblazer in the 1970s, and his life's work contributed to Australia's Tourism and Hospitality industry expansion. Apply for this scholarship and be part of this inspiring legacy.

    Who can apply?

    To apply for the Barrington Raymund Roberts Memorial Award, you must:

    • be a graduate of a TAFE NSW tourism, travel or hospitality qualification in 2024

    In your application, your teacher must endorse that you:

    • have achieved a high standard in most competencies of your course and/or apprenticeship
    • apply skills and knowledge learned throughout your course to a range of technical tasks and interpersonal skills in your class and/or workplace
    • be open to new ideas, techniques, and different ways of learning

    Who was Barrington Raymund Roberts?

    A prominent figure in the Tourism and Hospitality industry in the 1970’s, his passion led to the building of the largest hospitality-training centre in the Asia Pacific Region - what is now known as TAFE NSW Ryde.

    It was a result of his work and dedication that the profile of Tourism and Hospitality expanded in Australia and his legacy now lives on in the recipients of this Award.
