    Are you a recent graduate of a Tourism, Travel or Hospitality course at TAFE NSW?

    Valued at $4,000, the prestigious Barrington Raymund Roberts Memorial Award supports one deserving recipient to undertake further study, training, and work placement in the industry.

    Barrington Raymund Roberts was a trailblazer in the 1970s. His passion led to the establishment of the Asia-Pacific’s most significant hospitality training centre, now known as TAFE NSW Ryde.

    By applying, you could follow in the footsteps of past recipient Billy Fox, who used the award to travel to Singapore and gain valuable industry experience at the renowned Osia Restaurant

    Who can apply?

    To apply for the Barrington Raymund Roberts Memorial Award, you must:

    • be a graduate of a TAFE NSW Tourism, Travel, Events or Hospitality qualification have completed your studies in 2024 or 2025.

    Teacher Endorsement Your application must include a teacher endorsement confirming that you:

    • have achieved a high standard in most competencies of your course and/or apprenticeship
    • can apply your skills and knowledge to a range of technical tasks
    • demonstrate strong interpersonal skills in the classroom and/or workplace
    • are open to new ideas, techniques, and different ways of learning.

    Who was Barrington Raymund Roberts?

    A prominent figure in the tourism and hospitality industry during the 1970s, Barrington Raymund Roberts channelled his passion into building the largest hospitality training centre in the Asia-Pacific region—now known as TAFE NSW Ryde.

    His dedication contributed significantly to the expansion of the tourism and hospitality sectors in Australia, and his legacy lives on through the recipients of this award.
