    Student travel concessions

    alt=””

    As a TAFE NSW student, you may be able to get travel concessions on NSW public transport. This means you can get cheaper fares on trains, buses, ferries and light rail.

    Check your eligibility

    Once you’ve confirmed your eligibility and enrolment, you can apply for your travel concession card.

    Long distance travel

    You may be eligible for the Vocational Training Assistance Scheme (VTAS) if you’re an apprentice or trainee in NSW. You must travel more than 120 km round trip to attend day or block release training with your Registered Training Organisation (RTO).

    Travelling with invisible disabilities

    When you travel to study with us, feeling confident and comfortable is important. Transport for NSW offers the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower program to provide extra support on public transport. Wearing a Hidden Disabilities Sunflower lanyard signals that you may need assistance.

    To order a free lanyard through Transport NSW, email sunflower@transport.nsw.gov.au with the following details:

    • full name
    • unit and/or street number
    • street name
    • suburb
    • postcode.

    You can also collect a free lanyard from metropolitan or regional train stations.
