You must be employed as an apprentice in the industry.

Non apprenticeship pathways let you use your existing work skills to gain a trade qualification. We assess your skills through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). You may also need to complete extra training to build any missing skills.
You must be at least 21 years of age, as shown by your photo ID.
You must have at least 2 years of work experience in this occupation or trade, as shown by employee records such as your resume or letter from your employer.
You must be currently employed in the relevant industry, as shown by a letter from your employer.
At selected locations, you can complete this course through the Trade Pathways for Experienced Workers (TPEW) program. This subsidised program recognises your industry experience. To be eligible, you must meet specific age, work and experience requirements. Learn more about TPEW.
To make sure this delivery option is the right fit for you, we will need you to demonstrate that you can meet the additional requirements below.
Be 21 years or older at the time of enrolment as shown by your photo ID
Have at least 3 years of work experience in your trade including 12 months in Australia
Be currently working in the construction industry or have worked in it within the last 5 years
Not be a registered apprentice or trainee. If your apprenticeship was cancelled it must have ended more than 6 months ago
Not be in Smart and Skilled training and complete 3 units of competency through recognition of prior learning
Live or work in NSW.

To be prepared for this course, we recommend that you have:
a strong work ethic
a good understanding of mathematics
a desire to work in a variety of indoor and outdoor environments
an interest in building and construction projects
Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) at a Year 10 high school level

A valid form of ID to prove you are at least 18 years old as part of SafeWork NSW requirements to undertake the SafeWork NSW High Risk Work Licence assessment conducted via this course
