Find Your Fit helps you think about your foundation skills before you choose a course. It’s for anyone thinking about studying at TAFE NSW. It helps you understand your foundation skills better.

Find Your Fit helps you choose a course that makes study more enjoyable and successful. It does this by helping you think about your skills.

You’ll reflect on how confident and capable you feel in areas like:

• learning 
• reading 
• writing 
• speaking 
• maths
• using technology. 

These are essential skills for successful study and work. They’re often called foundation skills.  

Find Your Fit includes 7 multiple-choice questions linked to foundation skill areas. 

The building blocks of foundation skills include literacy, numeracy and digital literacy. These are the essential skills that help people learn, work and take part in everyday life.

Literacy 

Literacy is the ability to understand and evaluate meaning through things like reading, writing, listening, speaking and viewing.

Numeracy 

Numeracy is about understanding and using numbers to take part in daily life. It allows you to do things like: 

• measure the distance between 2 points 

• weigh ingredients 

• manage a budget and finances 

• solve problems 

• understand statistics and data. 

Digital literacy 

Digital literacy is the skills and knowledge needed to use digital devices, the internet and online tools. It makes learning easier and more engaging by allowing students to do things like: 

• use learning platforms 

• create and save files 

• take part in virtual classrooms 

• communicate online with teachers and other students 

• recognising things like scams or false information.
