More than 15 hours per week. In addition to your chosen delivery mode, you may need to complete self-directed learning, which could include online activities or work placements.

At a TAFE NSW campus or Connected Learning Centre, you’ll join a virtual classroom to connect with teachers and classmates through video or web conferencing. Like a regular class, there will be set attendance times. Depending on your course, you may also complete some online units or hands-on training through our Mobile Training Units network.
Join a virtual classroom where you can connect with teachers and classmates through video or web conferencing. This allows you to participate from anywhere with a stable internet connection, whether it’s from home or a TAFE campus. If you’d like to join from a TAFE location, contact your local campus to reserve a space. Classes have scheduled attendance times, similar to regular sessions, and some courses may also include online units.
Study when and where it suits you. All your learning materials are available online so you can manage your workload at your own pace. Access the learning system at any time.
You’ll engage actively with course content, teachers, and classmates to help enhance your learning experience. Instructors are available to support you in reaching your course goals. Some courses may also require a vocational placement, on-campus assessments or real/simulated environment observations. To participate in online courses, you’ll need a computer with internet access.
You’ll receive your training on the job, supervised by a workplace training officer or your employer. This training is undertaken at your place of employment. Work-based learning may also include completing work-based projects while under supervision. You may need to attend an on-campus assessment and a teacher may need to observe and assess you in a real or simulated environment.
Learn through a combination of classroom-based, online and workplace learning. You might attend scheduled classroom sessions, engage in self-directed online learning and receive supervised training on the job. Classroom activity will be scheduled, while online learning can provide more flexibility. Teacher support will be provided for all methods of study. Access to a computer with an internet connection is required.
