Through a mixture of theory and practical course work, learn to:

  • Perform facial techniques including exfoliation and massage

  • Perform lash and brow treatments including lash lifts

  • Consult with clients and provide beauty, skincare and cosmetic product advice and treatment recommendations

  • Conduct skin analysis and cater treatments to the skin type and concerns of your client

  • Provide nail treatments including manicures and pedicures

  • Create make-up designs and apply make-up

Entry recommendations

To be prepared for this course, we recommend that you have:

  • Closed-in protective footwear and clothing that is clean and professional for the industry

  • Computer skills and are able to work on your laptop, iPad or smartphone that can connect to the internet

  • Strong communication skills to consult with your clients and your team

  • An openness to practising your skills on your peers and members of the public

  • An openness to allow your peers to practise their skills on you

  • An ease about performing massage treatments on the head, feet, hands and body

  • A willingness to follow strict hygiene and work, health and safety principles

  • Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) at a Year 12 high school level

Units Units taught in this course

Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Diploma of Beauty Therapy qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 29 units of competency, including 20 core and 9 speciality units.

Please note, not all specialty units are offered at every TAFE NSW location. It is highly recommended that you check with your preferred campus for information about the specialty units offered at that location.
