Assessments

Assessments give you the opportunity to demonstrate what you have learnt and to identify the knowledge or skills that may need further development.

Work placement

Work placement provides you with opportunities to respond to situations and circumstances that cannot be replicated in a learning or simulated environment. Work placement strengthens your training and supports continued learning and assessment in the workplace.

  • Depending on your elective units, campus location and delivery method, you may be required to undertake a mandatory 120 hours of work placement with a suitable industry employer.

  • Depending on your mode of study, TAFE NSW will either arrange your work placement for you or support you to find one.

To make sure this delivery option is the right fit for you, we will need you to demonstrate that you can meet the additional requirements below.

  • HLTAIN001 (Assist with nursing care in an acute care environment): Student would have an option to choose and complete this elective unit which requires completion of 80 hours in an acute care environment (i.e. Hospital settings ONLY). Student is required to organise their own work placement and the chosen healthcare facility to complete this work placement unit must be approved by the TAFE Digital course teacher. Units Units taught in this course

Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate III in Health Services Assistance qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 15 Units of competency, including 7 core and 8 speciality units.

Core units are central to the job outcomes of a particular industry or occupation. These are the units industry has agreed are essential to be capable and qualified at a particular study level.

  • Recognise healthy body systems HLTAAP001

  • Participate in workplace health and safety HLTWHS001

Course Delivery Studying Online

Choose when and where you study. Set your own pace, with all your study materials online, allowing you to manage your own workload. Access your learning management system 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This is a highly collaborative space that involves more than simply reading and consuming.

You will interact creatively with content, teachers and your peers, improving your overall engagement with the course. Teaching staff are available to provide you with support, enabling you meet your course outcomes.

You may need to attend a vocational placement, on campus assessment and/or a teacher might need to observe and assess you in a real or simulated environment. Online courses require access to a computer with an internet connection.
