    Through a mixture of theory and practical course work, learn to:

    • identify the main parts of steam turbines and high-pressure boilers and explain how they work

    • carry out routine maintenance and casualty-control procedures in boiler plants

    • analyse the performance of marine steam turbine systems

    • identify ways to reduce energy loss and improve the efficiency of turbines, boilers and feed systems

    • recognise common faults, alarms and shutdowns.
