    • course that interests you.

You may also be eligible for financial assistance, or recognition of prior learning (RPL) for previous study or working experience.

Read all the information below and if you need help, give us a call on 131 601.

    Find a course

Start by choosing a location and study option.

To do this, follow these steps:

    1. Go to your chosen course page on the TAFE NSW website
    2. Look for the section called ‘find a location to enrol’
    3. Scroll through or filter the options to see what’s available. If you see ‘TAFE Digital’, it means you can study online, giving you greater flexibility for your schedule.
    4. When you've picked your location and study option, click on the course to learn more.

    Course entry requirements

    Some courses have entry requirements.

To find out if your course has entry requirements you need to:

    • check your course page, and
    • read the ‘additional entry requirements’ at your chosen location.

You’ll need to provide evidence for entry requirements, so make sure you have everything that’s need and ready to go when you start the enrolment process.

    Your Unique Student Identifier

A Unique Student Identifier (USI) is a Government reference number that conveniently keeps track of all your training records and results.

    The importance of a USI

Your Unique Student Identifier (USI) is your individual education number for life. It also creates a Government authenticated record of your Australian Vocational Education and Training (VET) achievements.

You need a USI if you are:

    • a student studying nationally recognised VET course
    • seeking a VET student loan
    • a higher education student seeking a HELP loan or Commonwealth Supported Place, or
    • a higher education student graduating.

    Creating my USI

If you don’t have a USI, you can create one by visiting the USI website.

You can also create a USI during your enrolment or application.

    Finding my USI

If you can’t remember your USI, you can search for it by visiting the USI website.

    Using my USI

It is important to use the same USI when you enrol or apply for a course anywhere in Australia and at TAFE NSW. This means that all your educational records will be stored accurately in your USI account.

How to enrol, apply or register your interest

Enrolling online in a TAFE NSW course is simple.

You can enrol or apply, or you can register your interest by following the prompts online. You can also enrol or apply at a TAFE NSW campus.

When you choose your course and location on the TAFE NSW website, you will see a button that says:

    • enrolment open
    • application required
    • register your interest, or
    • waitlist open.

Read the information below to find out what this means, and what to do next.

    Enrolment open

Enrolment open means that your course does not have any entry requirements. This means that you can enrol immediately.

To enrol in a course you need to:

    • decide on your course
    • find a location to enrol at the bottom of your course page or simply use the Find a location to enrol button in the top menu
    • select your preferred study option (online, virtual, on campus etc)
    • click the start enrolment button on the location page to begin your enrolment.

To finalise your enrolment and officially join us at TAFE NSW, you'll need to:

    • pay your course fees
    • have any relevant fee waivers
    • have any exemptions applied.

    Application required

Application required means that your course at the location you have chosen has entry requirements.

You can find entry requirements for each qualification on the course page. There may also be additional entry requirements at your chosen location.

To apply for a course you need to:

    • decide on your course
    • check the entry requirements and additional entry requirements if applicable
    • find a location to enrol at the bottom of your course page or simply use the Find a location to enrol button in the top menu
    • select your preferred study option (online, virtual, on campus etc)
    • click the start application button on the location page to begin your enrolment.

Please note that during the application process, you will need to provide evidence for the entry requirements.

Once submitted, your application will be assessed by our team. You will be contacted via email about the progress of your application.

Once your application is approved, you'll need to:

    • pay your course fees
    • have any relevant fee waivers or exemptions applied
    • officially accept your offer.

    Register your interest

Register your interest means that means you need to submit an enquiry.

    This is because either:

    • a course is not open for enrolment yet, or
    • a TAFE NSW teacher or staff member will contact you to discuss the course and advise on the next steps.

Once you register your interest, we will let you know via email as soon as the next intake opens.

    Apprenticeships or traineeships

If you want to undertake an apprenticeship or traineeship, generally you will need to register your interest first and complete the online Course Enquiry form.

By doing this, our apprentice and traineeship team will contact you and guide you through the enrolment process.

Please check your emails to stay up-to-date and see the progress of your enquiry.

    Waitlist open

When you see the message Waitlist open it means that your course at the chosen location is currently full, but you have the option join a waitlist. To join the waitlist, you will need to submit your request to do so.

To join a waitlist you need to:

    • decide on your course
    • find a location to enrol at the bottom of your course page or simply use the Find a location to enrol button in the top menu
    • select your preferred study option (online, virtual, on campus etc)
    • select your location
    • click the join waitlist button on the location page to join the waitlist.

You will be notified via email as soon as a place becomes available. If your course remains full, you will be offered alternative courses that may suit.

    Important dates

Plan and keep track of your studies using our academic calendar.

    You’ll find important dates like:

    • public holidays
    • the census date

See the full list of dates on our academic calendar.

    Recognition and credit transfers

Recognition of prior learning, often referred to as RPL, is a way to acknowledge the qualifications, skills and experience you may already have. This can help reduce the time it takes to complete your course.

    Check your course fees

On our fees and payments page you will find useful and important information including course related fees, how to access concessions and free courses, as well as how we can offer financial support.

    It contains detailed information on:

    • payment options
    • fee-free courses
    • financial assistance
    • eligibility for different concessions or exemptions
    • applying for a fee concession or exemption

International students and temporary visa holders

A group of four diverse young adults, two men and two women, gathered around a table in a bright, modern study area. They are smiling and engaged in collaborative work, looking at a tablet and various open books and notebooks spread out in front of them.

    International students

If you're an international student, visit the TAFE NSW International website to apply.

A young temporary visa holder sits on a library floor with her laptop and an open book on crossed legs. She takes a break from studying to smile at the camera. She also has her bag and water bottle close.
