Apply, enrol or register for a TAFE NSW course

Three prospective students sit outside on the grass on comfortable red beanbags. Two have their laptops open ready to apply for a TAFE NSW course as all three smile and laugh.

TAFE NSW is Australia’s largest education and training provider. When you study with us, you’ll gain education and skills that will potentially change your life.

We offer hundreds of courses at more than 150 locations across the state.

    Start studying at TAFE NSW

    To get started, choose a:

    • location
    • study option
    • course that interests you.

You may also be eligible for financial assistance or recognition of prior learning (RPL) for previous study or work experience. Read all the information on this page. If you need help, call us on 131 601.

    Find a course

Start by choosing a location and study option.

To do this, follow these steps:

    1. Go to your chosen course page on the TAFE NSW website.
    2. Find the section called ‘Find a location to enrol’.
    3. Scroll or filter to see available options. ‘Online Campus’ means you can study online for more flexibility.
    4. Once you’ve chosen a location and study option, click on the course to learn more.

    Course entry requirements

Some courses have entry requirements. To check, look at your course page and read the ‘Additional entry requirements’ at your chosen location. You’ll need to provide evidence for these requirements, so have everything ready when you start enrolment.

    Your Unique Student Identifier

Your Unique Student Identifier (USI) is your personal education number for life. It also creates a government-verified record of your Australian Vocational Education and Training (VET) achievements. Make sure your USI uses your legal name.

You need a USI if you are:

    • a student studying a nationally recognised VET course
    • seeking a VET Student Loan
    •  higher education student seeking a FEE-HELP loan or Commonwealth Supported Place
    • a higher education student graduating.

    Creating my USI

If you don’t have a USI, you can create one on the USI website. You can also create a USI during enrolment or application.

    Finding my USI

If you can’t remember your USI, search for it on the USI website.

    Using my USI

Always use the same USI when enrolling or applying for courses in Australia, including at TAFE NSW. This ensures all your education records are stored correctly in your USI account.

How to enrol, apply or register your interest

Enrolling online in a TAFE NSW course is simple. You can enrol, apply or register your interest online by following the prompts. You can also enrol or apply at a TAFE NSW campus.

If you want to do an apprenticeship or traineeship, you usually need to register your interest first. Complete the online course enquiry form.

Our apprentice and traineeship team will then contact you and guide you through the enrolment process. Check your emails to stay up to date and track the progress of your enquiry. Read our apprenticeships and traineeships page for more information.

    Waitlist open

When you see ‘Waitlist open’, your course at the chosen location is full.
