City of Newcastle Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarship

The City of Newcastle Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarship is aimed at improving participation in further education and employment in the community.

The scholarship is valued at $1,500.

Closing date: 5pm, Friday 10 May 2024

Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students enrolled at TAFE NSW and living or studying in the Newcastle government area are eligible to apply.

New students are encouraged to apply, and must be enrolled in a course delivered by TAFE NSW at the time of receiving the City of Newcastle Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarship.

Ability to demonstrate how the scholarship funds will be used to support study and future career ambitions.

Ability to demonstrate commitment and involvement in the community e.g. volunteer positions, community activities, advisory groups etc.

What is the value of the City of Newcastle Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarship?

The scholarship is valued at $1,000

Who will be on the selection committee?

The selection committee will comprise of TAFE NSW and Hunter TAFE Foundation representatives

I’m not a current TAFE NSW student, can I apply?

New students are encouraged to apply, however, if successful you must be enrolled in an eligible TAFE NSW qualification at the time of receiving the Scholarship. If you are not enrolled in an eligible TAFE NSW qualification, you will not be eligible to receive the scholarship.
