    The Equity Scholarship is designed to ensure fair access to education at TAFE NSW by assisting with course-related expenses and living costs.

    This semester, eight scholarships are available, each valued at $1,000. These are awarded to students who demonstrate dedication to completing their studies and securing employment.

    Eligibility Applications are open to students who identify with one or more of the following categories:

    • Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
    • Living with a disability, long-term medical condition, or chronic illness
    • Long-term unemployed (6 months or longer)
    • Centrelink benefit recipient
    • Youth at risk
    • Experiencing (or have experienced) domestic and family violence.

    Applications for Equity Scholarships is now closed.

    Who can apply?

    To apply for the Equity Scholarship, you must:
    • be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, humanitarian visa holder, or New Zealand citizen living in NSW (refer to the Terms and Conditions for eligible visa types)
    • be studying—or planning to study—an accredited VET course at TAFE NSW
    • explain how the scholarship funds will support your study and career goals
    • describe the circumstances that have led you to apply for this scholarship
    • demonstrate financial or personal hardship by providing either:
      • evidence of Centrelink benefits, OR
      • a statement outlining the circumstances that have affected your education or access to education.
    • provide a dated and signed referee statement with your application.
      • Suitable referees include: a teacher, head teacher, support officer, Aboriginal support officer, case worker, or counsellor.

    We understand that sharing your personal or financial circumstances can be emotionally challenging, so please do not hesitate to reach out if you need support.

    To arrange an appointment with a counsellor, call 131 601 and select Option 5, then Option 2.

    You can also use this number to access Disability Services or request a referral to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student support.
