Apply now for a Newcastle Lord Mayor’s Arts Scholarship

The Newcastle Lord Mayor’s Arts Scholarship, established in 2004, nurtures young talent studying in the arts at TAFE NSW. It also recognises the City of Newcastle’s commitment to cultural development.

The scholarship provides financial support to TAFE NSW students experiencing economic challenges while studying art, music, drama, dance, or writing related courses. One scholarship worth $1,000 will be awarded, with the possibility of up to five deserving students also receiving $200 each.

The scholarship cultivates creativity and innovation within the local arts community offering a unique opportunity for aspiring individuals to develop their artistic talents.

Applications for a Newcastle Lord Mayor’s Arts Scholarship is now closed.

To apply for a Newcastle Lord Mayor’s Arts Scholarship, you must:

• be 30 years old or under
• be enrolled in a TAFE NSW course related to art, music, drama, dance or writing
• reside or study within the Newcastle local government area
• receive Centrelink benefits or possess a Health Care Card or Low Income Health Care Card
• demonstrate commitment to your study and career goals by listing achievements or displaying high-level professional practice in your relevant arts area/s
• demonstrate you are a good student and represent TAFE NSW and the Hunter TAFE Foundation by sharing positive grades and attendance records, character traits, or values
• not have received a scholarship from the Hunter TAFE Foundation for one year before 4 April 2025.
