Update your personal details

If you’re already a TAFE NSW student, this page will show you how to update your personal details. This includes your legal name, preferred name, date of birth, visa status, gender, pronouns and contact details.

Your legal name and date of birth

We use your legal name on your TAFEcard and official documents like your TAFE NSW academic transcript and certificate. If you’ve legally changed your name or corrected your name or date of birth, you’ll need to:

Update your details with the USI Registry.
Complete an Enrolment Adjustment - Change of Personal Details Form [PDF 1,836 KB].
Gather evidence of the changes – there are examples of the evidence we accept on the form.
Take your completed form and evidence to your local TAFE NSW customer service team or attach the completed form and your evidence to an online enquiry.

If you haven’t legally changed your name or date of birth, but they are incorrect on our records, complete an Enrolment Adjustment - Change of Personal Details Form [PDF 1,836 KB]. You’ll need to provide evidence showing the correct details.

Citizenship, residency or visa status

If your citizenship, residency or visa status has changed, let us know using our Enrolment Adjustment - Change of Personal Details Form [PDF 1,836 KB]. You’ll need to provide evidence of the change.

Update your details with other services

Remember to update your details with other government services and organisations. This will avoid problems where our records don’t match relevant government records. For example, your study support payments from Centrelink may get affected.

Some government records might include your sex and gender. You may also want to check that the organisations have your correct contact details.

We recommend you update your details with:

MyGov, including myID
Centrelink
Training Services NSW if you’re doing an apprenticeship or traineeship
the Australian Taxation Office, especially if you have a current student loan
your school if you’re still enrolled in high school or secondary school.

Your preferred name at TAFE NSW

At TAFE NSW, everyone belongs. We recognise that your name is an important part of your identity. You may use a name that is different from your legal name.

Let us know if you have a preferred or affirmed name that you’d like us to use. We’ll do our best to use this name when we talk with you, in emails and in TAFE NSW learning systems and tools like your Student Hub.

In some cases, we need to use your legal name, for example on your TAFEcard and enrolment and academic records. We may also ask for your legal name to help us find your records. We’ll handle your information respectfully and want you to feel safe, supported and included.

How to update your personal details

Follow the steps below to update your preferred name, gender, pronouns, and contact details.

Visit the Student Hub and select one of your courses.

Select ‘Manage your account’ or ‘Edit account details’ on the side panel.
Edit your details in the ‘Personal details’ or ‘My details’ section.
Your changes won’t display automatically. Our systems may take a few days to update.
To update your TAFE NSW username and email address to your preferred name, complete an Enrolment Adjustment - Change of Personal Details Form [PDF 1,836 KB].
