You may be eligible for the Trade Pathways for Experienced Workers (TPEW) program. This subsidised program recognises your industry experience and runs at selected TAFE NSW locations. Learn more about TPEW.
To make sure this delivery option is the right fit for you, we will need you to demonstrate that you can meet the additional requirements below.
Be 21 years or older at the time of enrolment as shown by your photo ID
Have at least 3 years of work experience in your trade including 12 months in Australia
Be currently working in the construction industry or have worked in it within the last 5 years
Not be a registered apprentice or trainee. If your apprenticeship was cancelled it must have ended more than 6 months ago
Not be in Smart and Skilled training and complete 3 units of competency through recognition of prior learning
Live or work in NSW.

During your study, you'll need to meet specific requirements to complete your coursework. Your teacher will let you know when you need to provide evidence of:
A general construction induction card (commonly known as a white card) – you will need this before you can enter a construction site
A Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) skills test and achieve a score of 3 across the two bands of learning and oral communication, a score of 2 across two bands of literacy, a score of 1 across one band of digital literacy and a and 3 across one band of numeracy. This skills test helps us to understand your individual study needs and to provide you with the appropriate support for your study success.
Complete your application through our online portal. A teacher will assess your application to offer you a place if you meet the entry requirements for the course.
