
This course shows what a career in CAD looks like in modern manufacturing. You’ll learn how it’s used, the types of jobs available and the roles you can grow into. Real examples and reflection help you clarify your interests and to plan your study path.
During this course you'll learn to:
identify career opportunities in key sectors where CAD is used
understand and explain what CAD professionals do in different roles and industries
know the basic training and qualification pathways available
recognise the pathways and motivations of drafters and designers in the industry
identify personal skills and interests to make a CAD career your reality.
You'll leave this course with:
a sound understanding of the range of careers that employ CAD technicians and designers
a good knowledge of software environments and specialisations like generative design, additive manufacturing (3D printing) and digital twinning
information about training and qualification pathways such as microcredentials, TAFE certificates, diplomas and vendor-specific certifications relevant to CAD and drafting (e.g. Autodesk)
the completion of a guided reflection (quiz) to connect your personal preferences with a real CAD career.
