    • making costumes for dance and bespoke garments

    Entry requirements

    This course requires evidence of previous experience or study before you can enrol.

    • Successful completion of the Certificate III in Apparel, Fashion and Textiles. You’ll need to show your certificate or transcript as proof.

    • Skills, knowledge and experience equivalent to the Certificate III in Apparel, Fashion and Textiles. You’ll need to show a portfolio of work and take part in a short telephone interview.

    Entry recommendations

    To be prepared for this course, we recommend that you have:

    • an interest in working backstage in theatre or television

    • an interest in costume design and production

    • basic sewing skills, access to a sewing machine outside the college and an understanding of patternmaking

    • the ability to pay approximately $400 to cover costume and garment material costs

    • the ability to work during intensive production weeks

    • basic computer skills and access to a computer with internet

    • the ability to manage self-paced and self-directed study.

    Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate IV in Live Production and Technical Services (Costume) qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 16 units of competency, including 4 core and 12 speciality units.
