Through a mixture of theory and practical course work, learn to:

  • Understand the biophysics behind laser and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) technologies

  • Follow Australian and New Zealand standards for laser and IPL

  • Identify, limit and control safety risks and hazards

  • Complete reports and documentation on safety policies in the workplace

  • Research different laser and IPL devices

  • Choose the appropriate laser and IPL devices and safety eyewear for the wavelength in use

Our graduates go onto roles like: laser or IPL business owner, clinic owner, franchise owner and front desk staff at a laser or IPL business.

Licensing

There are no nationally uniform laws and regulations to govern the use of lasers, IPLs and LED phototherapy in the cosmetic industry. Requirements are determined by the state or territory jurisdiction in which a business operates. Currently, lasers for cosmetic purposes are only regulated in Queensland, Tasmania and Western Australia, while IPLs are only regulated in Tasmania. Please check your state legislation or visit arpansa, the Australian Government’s primary authority on radiation protection and nuclear safety.
