    • Manage visual merchandising and marketing activities in a nursery setting

    • Control pests, diseases and disorders in plants

    • Repair irrigation systems

    Entry recommendations

    To be prepared for this course, we recommend that you have:

    • Relevant employment or access to a nursery workplace environment to prove your skills

    • An intermediate level of physical fitness, as this is a highly practical course

    • The ability to safely operate machinery or equipment, accurately identify flora, fauna, pests, and diseases associated with plants, interpret landforms and rough topography

    • The ability to read and interpret maps, and accurately interpret chemical labels, using any necessary assistive technologies if needed

    • The ability to provide your own Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including including leather boots, long pants, a broad-rimmed hat and a long-sleeved shirt

    • Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) at a Year 10 high school level

    Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate III in Nursery Operations (Retail Nursery) qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 16 units of competency, including 9 core and 7 speciality units.
