Through a mixture of theory and practical course work, learn to:
design, build and construct set pieces and props
source items and dress sets for television, film or live stage
use lighting desks and a range of lights
set up and pack down stage equipment and performer gear (backline)
work with projectors, screens and cameras.

A nationally accredited qualification at a certificate III level.
Engage in live events and entertainment design with audio, lighting and vision equipment.
Exposure to pre-production skills, including lighting design and stage plans.
A strong pathway to continue further study in live production and entertainment design.

the ability to lift portable staging and lighting equipment
the ability to work well in a team
the ability to attend rehearsals, events and live performances outside class hours, including evenings and weekends
Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) at a Year 10 high school level.
You can plan your work and try to solve problems on your own.
You can understand documents you see often in everyday life.
You can write short sentences or lists to share information.
You can solve maths problems you often see in real life.
You can speak clearly and explain your thoughts in a group.
You can use email, search the internet and open files.

Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate III in Live Production and Technical Services (Scenery and Props) qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 15 units of competency, including 4 core and 11 speciality units.
Please note, not all specialty units are offered at every TAFE NSW location. It is highly recommended that you check with your preferred campus for information about the specialty units offered at that location.
