Completion requirements

During your study you’ll need to provide your teacher with the following evidence:

  • An ‘Adult Pre-Exercise Screening’ at orientation

Entry recommendations

To be prepared for this course, we recommend that you have:

  • Reached at least 17 years of age on the date of enrolment to commence studying this qualification. Students under 17 will be contacted for a meeting with their head teacher.

  • Adequate fitness to perform activities and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) while kneeling on the floor

  • Confidence in and around water, including performing rescues

  • Appropriate exercise attire including gym shoes, hand towel, water bottle, hat, sunscreen, sunglasses and gym bag to successfully complete this course

  • Students will also need access to a computer and the internet to complete assessment activities outside the classroom

  • Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) at a Year 10 high school level

  • TAFE NSW may ask you to complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) skills test.

  • This skills test helps us to understand your individual study needs, to design an individualised plan that supports your study success and ensures your LLN skills match the demands of the course.

Units Units taught in this course

Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate III in Fitness qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 15 units of competency, including 11 core and 4 speciality units.

Please note, not all specialty units are offered at every TAFE NSW location. It is highly recommended that you check with your preferred campus for information about the specialty units offered at that location.
