    TAFE NSW Albury Children’s Centre

An early childhood education student engages in playful learning with a toddler.

    Overview

Located beside the bushland of Nail Can Hill, our 20-place centre is surrounded by peaceful gum trees. Magpies and rainbow lorikeets are often part of our day, bringing a sense of connection to nature.

We offer early learning programs shaped to each child’s needs, helping them grow. Our educators come from a range of cultures and bring rich experiences to our centre. Our team speaks languages including Nepalese, Vietnamese and Dutch. Our children share languages such as Swahili, French, Punjabi and Tamil. This diversity creates a welcoming, inclusive environment where every child belongs.

We also value strong links with families and our local community. Together, we work to support each child’s learning journey.

If you’re interested in joining our early childhood team, see below. We’d love to hear from you.

    About us

At our centre, we are proud to offer a warm, inclusive, and inspiring environment. We create a space where every child feels safe, valued, and supported to grow.

Choosing the right early childhood service is an important decision for your family. That’s why we create a nurturing “home away from home”. We help children build a sense of belonging and skills for lifelong learning.

    Our philosophy

Children learn best through play, discovery and strong relationships. Our programs support each child’s interests, strengths and stage of development. We encourage curiosity, build confidence and promote independence.

Our educators work closely with families to support each child’s learning. We strive to make sure your child’s experience is personal and enriching.

    What we offer

    • High-quality, play-based programs linked to the Early Years Learning Framework

    • Caring, qualified educators who love working with children.

    • Safe and welcoming spaces, both indoors and outdoors.

    • Support to help children make friends and handle challenges.

    • An inclusive approach where every child is valued and supported.

    Our learning environment

We’ve created spaces where children can explore, play, and learn in their own way. There are areas for imaginative play as well as safe outdoor spaces to enjoy nature. It’s all about helping children be creative, curious, and confident as they learn.

    Working with families

We love working with families and see you as an important part of your child’s learning. We’ll keep you up to date with what’s happening and invite you to get involved whenever you can.

    Preparing for the future

No matter where your child is on their learning journey, we’re here to support them. Whether they’re just starting or getting ready for school, we help them build confidence, independence, and a lifelong love of learning.

    A typical day

We fill our centre with learning, fun and meaningful experiences. Our flexible routine lets children follow their interests and take part in activities that support their development.

    Morning

As children arrive, they’re welcomed into a calm, friendly space where they can settle in and catch up with friends.

During the morning, children can move freely between indoor and outdoor areas. They can choose activities that spark creativity, exploration, and social play. This helps them build confidence and learn at their own pace.

    Learning and play

Children come together for group time throughout the day. This includes an Acknowledgement of Country, stories, music, and chats about what they’re learning. These moments help build confidence, communication skills and a sense of belonging.

We also visit the TAFE library regularly. Children enjoy story time and borrowing books. This helps them grow early reading skills and a love of books.

    Mealtimes and rest

Lunchtime is a relaxed and social time where children eat together to build independence and healthy eating habits.

After lunch, children have time to rest and recharge. They can choose quiet activities like reading, drawing, or doing puzzles.

Children can also access their lunchboxes throughout the day for morning and afternoon tea, so they can eat when they need to.

    What our parents say

"The educators are incredibly caring and dedicated, and it’s clear how much the children love them. The learning environment is both fun and creative, with a beautiful nature-filled backyard that connects to Nail Can Hill.”

    Getting started

We welcome parents to visit our centre to collect an enrolment form in person. You can also email the Director to request a digital copy.

We encourage you to speak with the Director to ask questions, share any concerns and help your child settle in. This also helps our educators learn about your child’s needs before their first day.

To start the enrolment process, call the centre on 02 7921 1285, or submit an Application for Care Form [PDF, 1.7 MB] to join the waiting list. We'll contact you as soon as a place becomes available.

You are welcome to visit at a time that suits you, and we'll show you through our spaces and learning areas.

    Documents needed

To submit your application, you will need to provide:

    • Birth certificate
    • Medicare card
    • Health care/Pension card (if you have one)
    • Immunisation record (must be through Medicare, blue books are not accepted).

Please note: Children must meet government immunisation requirements or have an approved exemption to be eligible for Child Care Subsidy (CCS).

    How to enrol

There are five steps to complete enrolment:

    1. Apply for Child Care Subsidy (if eligible) - Parents/guardians submit a claim to Centrelink.
    2. Agree on care arrangements - To be confirmed between the Early Childhood Director (ECD) and parents/guardians.
    3. Submit the enrolment - The ECD submits an enrolment notice to Centrelink via HubHello.
    4. Confirm the enrolment- The parents/guardians verify the enrolment with Centrelink.
    5. Secure enrolment - If you accept an offer, we’ll send a formal letter detailing the next steps. This includes submitting a birth certificate, proof of immunisation and a security deposit to secure your childcare place.

Once the enrolment is completed and approved your entitlements can be calculated, and payments made. If there are no vacancies, we can add you to the waiting list.

Under Family Assistance Law, all children attending an early learning centre must have an enrolment notice, regardless of CCS eligibility. For eligible families, Centrelink/Services Australia can only process CCS claims once the correct enrolment is in place.
