    Overview

Our Granville Children’s Centre welcomes children aged 6 weeks to 6 years and their families. We create a safe and inclusive place where everyone belongs. We respect all cultures, languages, traditions and ways of life. Our educators care about every child and help build a strong sense of community.

Our educators focus on each child and what makes them unique. They set up fun learning spaces that spark curiosity and imagination. We work with families to create Individual Education Plans (IEPs) based on their goals. This helps support each child’s growth and skills.

At the end of the year, we meet with families to celebrate each child’s journey. We share their progress and the great things they've achieved.

    About us

Our commitment to inclusion and respect for diversity makes the Granville centre special. Our families and educators come from many cultures and speak many languages. This creates a warm and lively place where everyone feels welcome.

All our educators speak more than one language. They can communicate with families in their home language. We speak Dari, Tamil, Punjabi, Urdu, Arabic, Spanish and Chinese. This helps families feel understood and valued. We can also use tools like Google Translate to support clear communication.

We celebrate events like Chinese New Year, Ramadan, Eid, NAIDOC Week, Harmony Day, Diwali and Christmas. We love families to contribute to these celebrations, which help us all learn about different traditions.

    Mobile services

We offer mobile dental care and vision checks for children at the Granville centre. This service helps migrant families understand their children’s health and development.

We know reading is important for a child’s growth, so we also offer a mobile library service. Children can choose books that match their interests in a warm and welcoming space. This helps build a love of reading that can last a lifetime.

    8 Ways of Learning

We are proud adopters of the 8 Ways of Learning approach, based on Aboriginal culture. Children use natural items like rocks and sticks to share stories in a Yarning Circle.

We also run ‘See Something and Wonder’ group time. This helps children notice the world around them, ask questions and build storytelling skills. We believe this is important in today’s fast-paced, technology-focused world.

    HubHello platform

We love to keep our families informed to build trust and stay connected. We use the HubHello platform to share updates.

You can log in to check daily updates, including:

    • which educators are in the centre
    • daily activities and observations
    • meals consumed
    • naptimes and nappy changes
    • programs and reflections

    A typical day

At Granville Centre, we focus on intentional teaching and care. Your child will be warmly welcomed each day to help build strong, trusting relationships with educators. We involve children in decisions to build autonomy and confidence.

We have three rooms for different age groups: 0–2 years, 2–3 years and 3–5 years. Each room follows routines to suit the children’s stages of development.

    Enriching activities

At Granville Children’s Centre, we use a play-based, child-led approach. Activities mix guided learning with free play, based on children’s interests and needs. This allows children to explore, learn and grow.

Children can choose from many indoor activities. These include art, imaginative play, sensory play and simple science. They can also build fine motor skills through puzzles, cutting, sorting and playing with Play-Doh.

We encourage preschool children to help with daily tasks. This includes setting up activities, cleaning tables and helping serve afternoon tea.

Our outdoor space offers many chances to explore. Children can notice weather changes, listen to sounds and play with natural items.

    Meal times

We support each child’s dietary needs, including cultural preferences. We also have a private space for breastfeeding.

We encourage families to pack healthy food. This includes fruit, vegetables, protein, dairy or alternatives and water. This supports children’s energy levels, wellbeing and development.

We offer morning tea and let children join when they are ready. Some prefer to play first, while others eat first. This flexible approach supports independence and wellbeing.
