    Through a mixture of theory and practical course work, learn to:

    • prepare dishes using basic methods of cookery

    • practice safe hygiene

    • identify food hazards and prevent contamination

    • use kitchen equipment in a safe and hygienic way

    • clean and sanitise kitchen areas and equipment.

    • A nationally accredited Statement of Attainment.

    • A pathway to further hospitality study.

    • Credit towards the Certificate II in Cookery or the Certificate III in Commercial Cookery.

    To be prepared for this course, we recommend that you have:

    • a love of food and flavours

    • ability to work independently or as part of a team

    • the ability to provide your own closed shoes for safety

    • the physical ability to stand in a kitchen for several hours

    • Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) at a Year 10 high school level.
