With our reliance on technology progressing and cyber security threats becoming an increasing challenge for both individuals and organisations, the demand for qualified network security specialists is growing.

In the Bachelor of Information Technology (Cyber and Network Security) you will acquire the technical skills needed to work as a cyber-security specialist in the fast-growing and dynamic IT industry.

You’ll gain a solid foundation in network design, administration and security. You'll focus on critical analysis and problem solving skills to analyse security risks and apply appropriate mechanisms and policies to secure networks.

Learn to protect data and information, develop solutions for the control and protection against cybercrime and use innovative technologies to manage cyber security threats.

Learning Outcomes:
Through a mix of theory and practical course work, learn to:

  • Monitor and evaluate computer networks, applications and data systems for vulnerabilities
  • Develop solutions for the management and protection against the threat of cybercrime
  • Install and configure security devices and tools to protect the security of data and information
  • Perform penetration testing to identify system and network vulnerabilities
  • Set up, test, configure and deploy physical networking equipment, network simulators, and virtual machines
  • Apply coding languages for software defined and programmable network automation
  • Undertake forensic analysis and reporting on cyber and network security breaches and incidents
  • Administer cloud computing platforms such as AWS and Azure

To receive this course students must complete all core units and a range of Additional units. 

Note: Additional units may vary between each semester and campus, and will depend on a number of considerations including the packaging rules for the qualification and demand for the unit at that location. TAFE NSW does not guarantee that speciality units listed will be offered at each location and semester. STUDY PATHWAYS

Upon successful completion of the Higher Education qualification Diploma of Information Technology:

  • Graduates will receive 1 Year credit towards the Bachelor of Information Technology (Cyber & Network Security)
  • These credits will reduce the Bachelor of Information Technology (Cyber & Network Security) to a 2 Year duration.

STUDY PACKAGES

Plan your study around your life with a TAFE NSW study package. Our study packages allow for multiple courses to be packaged together that can lead you to a TAFE NSW or an Australian University Bachelor Degree with credits. This gives you a one stop shop by completing your applications for the whole package through TAFE NSW allowing you to apply for one student Visa for the full duration of the package.

TAFE NSW allows for two or more courses to be packaged together leading to a TAFE NSW Bachelor Degree, either to meet the prerequisite requirements for a course or to plan your studies around your career goals. You can submit a single TAFE NSW application form and will be able to apply for one Student Visa for the full duration of the package.
