This Diploma of Music (Sound Production)is for people who want to work in the creative arts - music, performing and entertainment industries as assistant sound engineers or sound designers.

You will develop and apply a sound theoretical knowledge base and use a range of specialised, technical or managerial competencies to plan, carry out and evaluate your own work and/or that of a team. You will also develop specialist expertise and learn to exercise music knowledge and artistic judgement.

You can learn to plan, develop and implement audio/sound design and sound recordings. You can operate and maintain a variety of sound recording, production and playback equipment.

The global music publishing market, valued at AU$6.4 billion in 2018, is expected to grow 6.1% annually between 2018 and 2025. The increase in paid subscriptions for media streaming is a key driver of this growth. In fact, in 2018 digital royalties contributed to about 54% of the overall global music publishing market revenues.

To receive this course students must complete all core units and a range of Additional units. 

Note: Additional units may vary between each semester and campus, and will depend on a number of considerations including the packaging rules for the qualification and demand for the unit at that location. TAFE NSW does not guarantee that speciality units listed will be offered at each location and semester. You will receive your timetable from the teaching section on commencement and speciality units offered will be provided at that time.
